Which Indian brokers support IPv6 for API and algo trading?

July 6, 2026 · 3 min read

Most new-age Indian brokers now accept an IPv6 static IP for API whitelisting, including Zerodha, Fyers, Upstox, Groww, 5paisa, IIFL and Kotak. Here is the current list and how to check yours.

Short answer: Most new-age Indian brokers now accept an IPv6 address for API whitelisting, and a few full-service brokers do too. As of July 2026 the brokers known to support IPv6 include Zerodha, Fyers, 5paisa, IIFL, Upstox, Groww and Kotak. Some brokers are still IPv4-only. Because IPv6 support is what lets you whitelist a free static IP, checking your broker first tells you whether you can skip paying for IPv4 entirely.

If you trade through a broker API, you have to whitelist the IP your orders come from. IPv6 addresses are not scarce the way IPv4 is, so a dedicated IPv6 static IP can be offered for free. The only question that matters is whether your broker will accept one.

Brokers that support IPv6

Based on our own testing and current broker API behaviour, these brokers accept an IPv6 address for whitelisting as of July 2026:

  • Zerodha (Kite Connect)
  • Fyers
  • Upstox
  • Groww
  • 5paisa
  • IIFL
  • Kotak Securities

As a rule of thumb, the newer and more API-first the broker, the more likely it already supports IPv6. Several full-service brokers have added it too.

Brokers that are still IPv4-only

Some brokers have not enabled IPv6 on their API endpoints yet and still require an IPv4 address to whitelist. Shoonya (Finvasia), for example, was still IPv4 at the time of writing, though brokers add IPv6 capability over time, so this changes.

If your broker is IPv4-only today, you do not need to give up on a static IP. You take a dedicated IPv4 address instead, which costs money because IPv4 itself is scarce, typically around 250 rupees per month at cost.

How to check whether your broker supports IPv6

Broker support changes, so confirm rather than assume:

  1. Check the broker's API or developer documentation for the IP whitelisting section. If it accepts an IPv6-format address (for example 2001:db8::ff00:42:8329), you are good.
  2. Try adding your IPv6 address to the whitelist in the broker's API settings. If the field accepts it and saves, the broker supports it.
  3. Ask the broker's API support directly whether their endpoints are reachable over IPv6.

A quick way to see what an IPv6 address even looks like on your own connection is our free What's my IP tool, and you can confirm your network can reach IPv6 endpoints with the IPv6 connectivity test.

Why IPv6 support matters for cost

The reason this list is worth checking before you buy anything is simple. IPv4 addresses are scarce and carry a price, so any static IPv4 is a paid product. IPv6 addresses are abundant, so a dedicated IPv6 static IP can be free. If your broker is on the IPv6 list above, you can get a dedicated, SEBI compliant static IP without paying a monthly fee for the address at all.

The short version

  • Most new-age brokers (Zerodha, Fyers, Upstox, Groww, 5paisa, IIFL, Kotak) accept IPv6 for whitelisting.
  • A few brokers are still IPv4-only; those need a paid IPv4 address.
  • Support changes over time, so confirm in your broker's API settings before signing up.
  • If your broker supports IPv6, your static IP can be free.
