How does this IPv6 test work?
It runs in your browser and tries to reach a host that is only reachable over IPv6. If the request completes, your network can route IPv6 and we show your IPv6 address. If it fails, no working IPv6 path was found from your connection.
Do I need IPv6 for a static IP?
No, but it helps. TrueIP offers a dedicated IPv6 static IP for free because IPv6 supply is plentiful. If your network and your broker both support IPv6, that free address works. If your broker only accepts IPv4, you would use a dedicated IPv4 instead, which we provide at cost.
The test says no IPv6. Can I still use TrueIP?
Yes. Whether or not your own connection has IPv6, you can use a dedicated IPv4 static IP for broker whitelisting. IPv6 simply unlocks the free option where it is supported end to end.
