How much does a static IP cost in India? (2026 prices)

Short answer: A dedicated IPv6 static IP should cost you nothing, and a dedicated IPv4 should cost only what the address actually costs to run, roughly 250 rupees a month. Anything well above that is markup. Below is what the different options charge in India in 2026, and where the money quietly leaks.

The three ways to get a static IP, and what each costs

1. From your ISP, as an add-on. Most Indian broadband providers will sell you a static IP on a business plan. Expect anywhere from 500 to 1,500 rupees a month, often bundled into a pricier business connection you would not otherwise need. You are usually paying for the plan tier, not the address.

2. From a VPS or cloud provider. Renting a small VPS gets you a static address as a side effect, from around 350 rupees a month and up. The catch is you are paying for a whole server you may not need. If all you want is a fixed address to whitelist, this is the most expensive way to get one.

Why IPv6 should be free

IPv6 addresses are abundant. There is no scarcity to price against, the way there is with IPv4. When a provider charges you a monthly fee for a single IPv6 address, you are paying for their margin, not for a scarce resource. Why IPv4 still costs a little

IPv4 is genuinely scarce. The global pool ran out years ago, so addresses now trade on a secondary market and carry a real, recurring cost to lease. A fair price reflects that cost and nothing more. Around 250 rupees a month for a dedicated IPv4 is close to cost. If you are paying several times that, you are paying someone's margin on top of the scarcity.

You only need IPv4 if a platform you rely on has not added IPv6 support yet. If everything you connect to accepts IPv6, you never have to pay for IPv4 at all.

The hidden cost: shared versus dedicated

Cheap "static IP" offers are sometimes shared addresses, used by many customers at once. A shared address looks cheaper on the invoice but costs you in other ways: it can be rate-limited or blocked for someone else's behaviour, and it is not something you can safely whitelist with a broker or a server.
